July 29, 2021 – Reserve Advisors, a national leader in reserve study consulting services for condominium and homeowner associations, is celebrating its 30-year anniversary. In 1991, the firm’s founders set out with a vision to be the leading provider of highly customized and comprehensive reserve study consulting services for community associations. To date, the firm has prepared more than 26,000 comprehensive reserve studies; delivering peace of mind that comes from long-term capital planning.

The firm will celebrate its 30th anniversary later this month and will recognize the occasion in ways that are meaningful to its customers, employees and its local communities. The company will kick off its commemoration on July 30th with a catered lunch for employees in each of its 15 locations, followed by a companywide virtual meeting and other team building activities. Throughout the remainder of the year, employees in every office will partner with local Feeding America Food Banks to provide hunger relief to those in need. In Milwaukee, employees will also work with the Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin to prepare care kits, which offer essentials to patients and their families while on the go between appointments. The firm is also hosting a trivia contest featuring questions from 1991. The contest will begin at Community Associations Institute’s Annual Conference and Exposition and will run through Sept. 15, when one lucky winner will be chosen to receive a premium Yeti® cooler.

“This anniversary is a significant milestone and a testament to our team’s commitment to supporting our community association clients,” says Peter Hellman, who became Reserve Advisors CEO in 2019. “Our culture has enabled us to deliver a unique client experience for the past 30 years and will continue to pave the way for continued growth as the industry’s leading provider of comprehensive reserve study consulting services.”

Reserve Advisors Then and Now

Reserve Advisors was founded in 1991 by John Poehlmann and Theodore (Ted) Salgado, two business valuation specialists who realized many associations had aging facilities and would not be prepared to sufficiently address upcoming capital replacement needs. They started offering their services to perform independent reserve studies, which they believed would offer the peace of mind that comes from long-term planning.

What started with Poehlmann, Salgado and a few family members conducting a couple dozen reserve studies per year, has grown to almost 60 employees across the United States completing several thousand projects per year. The firm has partnered with community associations as small as two units, to the 100-story John Hancock Center and Estrella, a master-planned community in Goodyear, Arizona.

“Through the years our clients have come to expect an exceptional report and experience from our team of highly trained engineers, says 20-year employee and Regional Executive Director, Todd Walter. “Our team is dedicated to delivering on this expectation through our consultative approach of conducting each reserve study and maintaining a high level of customer service, during and after the reserve study to help our clients reach their goals.”

He continues, “The industry has certainly changed since 1991, but our everyday commitment to working with community association managers and board members to understand their needs and concerns will always be of utmost importance no matter what milestone we’re celebrating.”
